- Antibiotics are not necessary or helpful since RSV is a virus, not a bacterial infection.
- Hydrotherapy to the chest and back.
- Remove sticky nasal fluids with a bulb syringe using saline drops.
- Use a cool-mist vaporizer to keep the air moist and make breathing easier.
- Give your little one fluid in small amounts throughout the day.
REMEDY
Take 1 drop of each Eucalyptus and peppermint essential oil and put into 1/4 cup pure Olive oil.
Then mix that together and then try just a tiny bit to make sure the baby doesn't break out. Put it over the chest and back and bottom of feet, then put socks on the baby.
Also, STRAP BABY INTO THEIR CAR SEAT and place them in the bathroom (not in the tub) and turn on the hot shower and plug the tub and pour maybe 3 to 4 or more drops of Eucalyptus oil into the tub. Close the door and put a towel at the bottom so the steam doesn't escape.
Check on the baby every 2 minutes. This remedy works great for cough.

ELECTROLYTE DRINK TO REHYDRATE YOUR SICK CHILD
One 8 oz. cup white grape juice
+ 1 pinch of salt
For small children, do about a half cup total with:
¼ cup water + ¼ cup white grape juice
+ ½ pinch of salt
Give this 2-3 x day.
FOR babies cut in half again.
Sitting Upright
Although this seems like common sense, sitting upright is a much better position than lying down if you want to keep your breathing clear.
Hyssop
Hyssop is known to significantly reduce mucus and also acts as an expectorant, which will help to expel excess mucus and phlegm, thereby allowing healthier, normal breathing in young children.
Yarrow
This is an herbal remedy that has been shown to stimulate the respiratory system and increase circulation, which can help eliminate toxins and increase overall immune health. Before giving strong herbs to children, however, it is recommended that you speak with a medical professional.
Thyme Tea
Purchase organic dried thyme at your grocery store, put 1 Tablespoon of the herb in a tea ball, soak in hot water, and put in bath water. Repeat up to six times per day. Studies suggest thyme helps expel phlegm and relieve congestion.
Garlic Oil
Garlic has long been used as a remedy for illness. Studies suggest a compound in garlic called allicin that boosts immune function. Rub garlic oil on baby’s feet. For older children, rub garlic oil directly on the chest.
Chest Rub
Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Chamomile is specially formulated to soothe cough and congestion. For young babies, rub it on the soles of their feet. For older children, rub directly on their chest and feet.
Raw Onions
This old wives tale hasn’t been substantiated with research, but it’s one many parents swear by. Chop up raw onions, cook them in water, allow to cool and then wrap in paper towels. Place the warm towels on baby’s feet for 10-15 minutes. For older children, you can place this directly onto the chest. You can also chop up raw onion and place in same room where baby sleeps.
FOR MOM if nursing…..Elderberry syrup:
I don’t recommend taking elderberry syrup every day (it can send your immune system into overdrive), but it has been proven to reduce the severity and duration of colds. (source). Take 1-2 T. per day until baby feels better.
