HEALTH NEWS ~ DECEMBER

Happy Holidays everyone! Christmas is almost here, so here is a great recipe to try out on all the holiday parties you may be going to or having at your home.

Cranberry Grape Salad

1 pkg. whole fresh cranberries
1 ¼ c. pineapple juice (save from can of pineapple and add more, or use water to make up the difference).

Cook gently until the skin breaks....add ½ - ¾ c. honey and ½ c. Kojel and cook on low for 3 minutes. Blend all in blender until smooth. Let cool while preparing the following:

1 c. red grapes halved or quartered
1 c. diced canned pineapple (drained)
½ c. walnuts or pecans (optional)

Mix well and pour into mold and chill until set. Very good alone or with homemade whip cream (see April's newsletter) on top or with toast.

It is very easy to overeat with all the holidays, so I wanted to share some things with you regarding that and how it affects our body.

“Those who place so much food upon the stomach, and thus load down nature, could not appreciate the truth should they hear it dwelt upon.” CH 158

“What influence does overeating have upon the stomach? It becomes debilitated, the digestive organs are weakened, and disease, with all its train of evils, is brought on as the result.”  CH 159

The word of God places the sin of gluttony in the same catalogue with drunkenness. Even if the food we are eating is healthy, we should quit when we are full….even if we haven’t yet tasted several dishes on the table.
“The extra food burdens the system  and produces morbid, feverish conditions” we are told in CDF 134.

“Sometimes the result of overeating is felt at once. In other cases there is no sensation of pain; but the digestive organs lose their vital force, and the foundation of physical strength is undermined. The surplus food burdens the system, and produces morbid, feverish conditions. It calls an undue amount of blood to the stomach, causing the limbs and extremities to chill quickly. It lays a heavy tax on the digestive organs, and when these organs have accomplished their task, there is a feeling of faintness or languor. Some who are continually overeating call this all gone feeling hunger; but it is caused by the overworked condition of the digestive organs.”  CDF 134

A few more quotes on overeating: I know I am guilty of this and need these quotes for myself too.  Pray much and let God lead and guide us at the table.

“And what influence does overeating have upon the stomach? It becomes debilitated, the digestive organs are weakened, and disease, with all its train of evils, is brought on as the result. If persons were diseased before, they thus increase the difficulties upon them, and lessen their vitality every day they live. They call their vital powers into unnecessary action to take care of the food that they place in their stomachs. What a terrible condition is this to be in!”   CD 135

“The Lord has instructed me that as a general rule, we place too much food in the stomach. Many make themselves uncomfortable by overeating, and sickness is often the result. The Lord did not bring this punishment on them. They brought it on themselves; and God desires them to realize that pain is the result of transgression.” CD 136

“Nearly all the members of the human family eat more than the system requires. This excess decays and becomes a putrid mass. . . . If more food, even of a simple quality, is placed in the stomach than the living machinery requires, this surplus becomes a burden. The system makes desperate efforts to dispose of it, and this extra work causes a tired, weary feeling. Some who are continually eating call this all-gone feeling hunger, but it is caused by the overworked condition of the digestive organs.” CD 132

The injunction of Christ is, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” Matt 5:48. Here He shows us that we may be as perfect in our sphere as God is in His sphere.

Wow those are some powerful quotes and really tells it like it is. Let’s glorify and honor God by treating our bodies as He would have us to. I pray none of us will overeat this holiday season.

May you all have a very blessed Christmas; and please REMEMBER Jesus is the reason for the Season.

10 Reasons Why You Should Drink Warm Lemon Water in the Morning

Instead of getting a cup of coffee, why not replace it with a warm water lemon drink!? Below are the good factors to consider.
1. Boosts your immune system: Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds. They’re high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure.

2. Balances pH: Drink lemon water everyday and you’ll reduce your body’s overall acidity. Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. Yes, lemon has citric acid but it does not create acidity in the body once metabolized.

3. Helps with weight loss: Lemons are high in pectin fiber, which helps fight hunger cravings. It also has been shown that people who maintain a more alkaline diet lose weight faster.

4. Aids digestion: Lemon juice helps flush out unwanted materials. It encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that required for digestion. Efficient digestion reduces heartburn and constipation.

5. Is a diuretic: Lemons increase the rate of urination in the body, which helps purify it. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

6. Clears skin: The vitamin C component helps decrease wrinkles and blemishes. Lemon water purges toxins from the blood which helps keep skin clear as well. It can actually be applied directly to scars to help reduce their appearance.

7. Freshens breath: Not only this, but it can help relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. The citric acid can erode tooth enamel, so you should monitor this.

8. Relieves respiratory problems: Warm lemon water helps get rid of chest infections and halt those pesky coughs. It’s thought to be helpful to people with asthma and allergies too.

9. Keeps you zen: Vitamin C is one of the first things depleted when you subject your mind and body to stress. As mentioned previously, lemons are chock full of vitamin C.

10. Helps kick the coffee habit: After taking a glass of warm lemon water, most people suggests of less craving for coffee in the morning.

Why it has to be warm water not cold? Cold water likely provides a shock or stress factor to the body. It takes energy for your body to process cold water.

The recipe is really simple - a cup of warm water (not hot) and the juice from half of a lemon.

Alkalizing Health Benefits of Celery!

Celery has always been associated with the lowering of blood pressure. When combined with other alkalizing green juices, it provides different formula that helps other acidic conditions.

Recent studies have shown that celery might also be effective in combating the acids that cause cancer.

Some of the alkalizing health benefits of celery juice:

Acidity: The important minerals in this magical juice effectively balance the body's blood pH, neutralizing acidity.

Athletes: Celery juice acts as the perfect post-workout tonic as it replaces lost electrolytes and rehydrates the body with its rich alkalizing minerals.

Cancer: Celery is known to contain at least eight families of anti-cancer or anti-acid compounds. Among them are the acetylenics that have been shown to stop the growth of tumor cells. Phenolic which block the action of prostaglandins that encourage the growth of tumor cells. And coumarins which help buffers dietary and metabolic acids from damaging cells.

Cholesterol: This humble pale juice has been shown to effectively and significantly lower total cholesterol and LDL (bad) cholesterol by lowering dietary and metabolic acids.

Colon and stomach cancer: The phytochemical coumarins prevent the formation and development of the colon and stomach cancers.

Constipation: The natural laxative effect of celery helps to relieve constipation. It also helps relax nerves that have been overworked by man-made laxatives.

Cooling: During dry and hot weather, drink a glass of celery juice two or three times a day, between meals. It wonderfully helps to normalize body temperature by reducing dietary and metabolic acids.

Diuretic: The potassium and sodium in celery juice helps to regulate body fluid and stimulate urine production, making it an important help to rid the body of excess acidic fluid.

Inflammation: The polyacetylene in celery is an amazing relief for all the acids that cause inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, asthma, and bronchitis.

Kidney function: Celery promotes healthy and normal kidney function by aiding elimination of acidic toxins from the body. While eliminating acidic toxins, it also prevents formation of kidney stones.

Lower blood pressure: Drinking celery juice every day for a week significantly helps lower blood pressure by lowering dietary and metabolic acids. A compound called phtalides help relax the muscle around arteries, dilating the vessels and allowing blood to flow normally. To be effective, drink the juice for one week, stop for three weeks, and start over.

Nervous system: The organic alkaline minerals in celery juice has a calming effect on the nervous system, making it a wonderful drink for insomniacs.

Weight loss: Drink celery juice frequently throughout the day. It helps curb your cravings for sweets and rich food.

Urinary stones, breaking of: The diuretic effect of celery juice also aids the breaking and elimination of acidic urinary and gallbladder stones.

You can expect many more healing benefits from celery juice as you consume its natural alkalizing sodium.

Danger: The High Protein Diet

You've probably heard about the sudden deaths of those who have gone on a high-protein, low-carbohydrate liquid diet to lose weight. These deaths are caused by irregular heart rhythms resulting from severe nutritional imbalances. But while these deaths are dramatic, there are many other chronic, disabling disorders that come from a high-protein diet. In fact, a high-protein diet is toxic to the body! This diet taxes your liver, breaks down your body's own protein tissues, triggers a loss of calcium from your bones, and leaves behind toxic residues. Before your body manages to eliminate these residues, it is often damaged, becoming more susceptible to a variety of diseases including cancer and arthritis.

A high-protein diet also causes excessive calcium loss through the urine. People on a high-protein diet need large amounts of calcium to make up for the losses. With an extremely high-protein diet (140 grams a day), researchers found it was impossible to maintain calcium balance-regardless of how much extra calcium one
ingested!

Too much protein causes harmful amounts of ammonia to accumulate in the body, and ammonia has been shown to slow the growth of cells in a cell culture. It seems clear that ammonia will slow the growth of normal cells, but hardly affects the growth of cancer cells - apparently giving the cancer cells an advantage!

For the elderly, a high-protein diet is particularly detrimental since they may easily lose bone matrix, resulting in osteoporosis, or thinning of the bones. Then, too, there's the loss of calcium, iron, zinc, and phosphorus through the urine during a high protein diet and we know that zinc is needed to balance other minerals in the
blood.

In a completely primitive society, an individual receives about 1 0 percent of their calories from protein, about 10 percent from fat, and about 80 percent from complex (unrefined) carbohydrates. Studies indicate this kind of diet is the easiest for the human body to handle, since both fats and proteins are far more difficult to metabolize than carbohydrates.

Almost 1 00 percent of carbohydrates can be converted to energy during digestion, so they represent the least "expensive" form of body fuel, leaving the smallest amount of waste product. Protein, on the other hand, is an "expensive" fuel, since only 58 percent is avail- able for "burning:' leaving much waste material for your body to dispose. Fats are even more difficult, since only 10 percent can be converted into fuel. So, since the production of heat, the performance of work, and the forerunners for many other nutrients are obtained from carbohydrates, it is plain that they should represent the major portion of food eaten.

Many people have a fear of eating carbohydrates, thinking they will cause weight gain. This is a misconception. It's fats and proteins that stimulate one to become overweight, rather than unrefined carbohydrates. Eating high-carbohydrate foods will not cause you to become overweight unless you eat high-fat and high-protein sauces, gravies, and other foods with them. In fact, if you use a high-carbohydrate diet from natural sources, it is highly unlikely that you will become overweight.

Refined carbohydrates are absorbed rapidly into the blood stream and put a strain on the pancreas, liver, stomach, and other digestive organs, often resulting in imbalanced blood biochemistry. Generally speaking, all refined or concentrated foods should be taken quite sparingly.

The best diet is a very simple one consisting of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Apart from these three food groups, all other foods should be used sparingly. Some nutrients, like salt, should also be used sparingly, and oils should be severely restricted, as they may cause an increased susceptibility to cancer and heart disease. No added protein should be used, and very high protein foods-such as animal products-should be used very sparingly.

Enjoy the foods God gives us - in their natural form. Your body will thank you!!!

My Aching Stomach

An inflamed and overworked stomach is so common today that we rarely see one totally free from irritation. This causes loss of energy, increasing the incidence of stomach diseases from gastritis to cancer. Energy loss is also a heavy drain on the nervous system, leaving us less perceptive, discerning, and decisive.

Dangers
Americans have more peptic ulcers than any other people, the three most common dietary causes being alcohol, aspirin, and vinegar. These irritate the stomach lining, causing overproduction of pepsin
and hydrochloric acid, and further weakening the stomach and its immune defense. Germs are more likely to successfully invade a weakened stomach.

Many use a variety of other common gastro-intestinal irritants. Hot pepper and cloves cause bleeding of the inflamed stomach. Ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and baking powder products may all cause spasm of the intestine. The fermenting of many dairy products produces amines, ammonia, and irritating acids. One of the toxic amines produced in cheese causes migraine headaches; and lactose, the chief carbohydrate of cheese and milk, is probably the most common food sensitivity in America.

Caffeine, nicotine, and chocolate have all been associated with chromosomal damage. Children who use these are at greater risk for immune system damage and many organ injuries, resulting in problems ranging from cancer, diabetes, and hypertension, to lower school grades. Some of the symptoms are irritability, rapid heartbeat, insomnia, fatigue, headache, restlessness, depression, and gastro-intestinal disturbances. Over 90 percent of Americans use caffeine, and some research indicates decaffeinated drinks are as harmful as the caffeinated ones.

Common Causes of Stomach Irritation

• Foods that are Too Hot or Cold - Thermal injury may result

• Drinking with Meals - Digestion and stomach emptying are both delayed, causing stagnation, one of the most common causes of ulcers and gastritis

• Late Evening Meals - Once asleep, the body slows digestion and nearly stops producing stomach acid, also causing stagnation

• Eating Too Much - One-half to two-thirds less food than presently consumed is best for most people

• Chewing Too Little - Large bites, poorly chewed, induce irritation

• Crowding Meals - Meals or snacks closer together than five hours can result in toxic compounds of digestion

• Complex Mixture of Foods - Dishes combining more than three or four major items make a greater tax on digestion, encouraging toxic compounds in the blood

• Eating Fruits and Vegetables Together in One Meal - Each requires different enzymes. The fewer enzyme systems used in a meal the better

• Fermented Foods - Sauerkraut, cheese, soy sauce, and similar products

Vinegar - Anything made with vinegar contains acetic acid or related irritant

• Manufactured Proteins - Heavy meat substitutes drain energy from the liver and kidneys, increasing risk of failure

• Refined Sugar and Oils, Vitamin or Mineral Preparations - Concentrated nutrients are more likely to irritate the stomach than less concentrated foods

• Baking Soda and Baking Powder- These upset the stomach's biochemical balance

Treatment
The treatment for an irritated stomach is very simple and can begin by avoiding stomach irritants altogether.

A regular schedule for meals' lessens the stomach's workload. Chew your food well and reduce drinks with meals. Drink only water between meals.

Get plenty of sunshine and fresh air, and help digestion by mild physical activity after meals, 1.1 such as taking a brisk stroll.

Be regular with sleeping hours and temperate in all you do, since temperance is the one law that holds the others together.

Above everything, trust God to help you accomplish these changes. If you ask, He will help you.

Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" so it's possible!

Cancer

Cancer in the U.S.A. is on the rise, due mainly to the typical unhealthy American diet. When we, as Christians, talk to people about cancer and how it can be prevented simply by eating healthy foods, and how it can be treated successfully using natural remedies, we are generally looked upon with some skepticism. You see, most people still trust the medical professionals and their words as being the ultimate authority when it comes to your health. When will we understand that health professionals do not have your interest at heart? Sure, they are knowledgeable, and they have high levels of education to "prove" they know what they're talking about. When will we understand that God does not "practice" medicine, and that His natural remedies are cures, not cover-up treatments that ultimately destroy the body systems. Well, for those who believe Man, and find it rather difficult to believe God and His word, this article is especially for you.

We have all heard of John Hopkins University and John Hopkins Medical Center. J.H.M.C. is one of the best, if not the best, medical center in the United States. Listen to what they have to say regarding their latest findings on the cause and treatment of cancer. Their recent article reads as follows:

After years of telling people chemotherapy is the only way to "try" and eliminate cancer, John Hopkins has determined that there is an alternative way.

*When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

*To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

* Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidney, heart, lungs etc.

* Radiation, while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

*When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

* Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery an also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

* An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

* Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar, it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small amounts. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus.

*Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. (God says it's best not to eat any flesh food at all in the Bible).

* A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice; whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. Eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day.

* Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water (purified or filtered. Tap water has toxins and heavy metals. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

* Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells,.

* Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level.

* Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. (End of report).

John Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletter. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. May this information be accepted and helpful you all who read it.

Personally, I believe if we follow God's original diet in Gen 1:29 we would not have these diseases!

Bananas, An Amazing Fruit

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!!!

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial n umber of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up deplete d blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking & Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxy gen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around; so maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time! I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth.

Amazing fruit!

HEALTH NEWS ~ SEPTEMBER

I can hardly believe summer is almost gone and fall is around the corner.  Here is a great recipe to try while summer is still here and all the fresh fruit is available.

Fruit Salad

One recipe Whipped Topping (See April’s Newsletter)

Fresh fruit of choice, but here are some ideas:

Blueberries
Pineapple
Apples
Bananas
Strawberries
Honeydew
Kiwi
Papaya
Grapes
Orange
Raspberries
Cantaloupe

Cut up fruit and place in bowl.  Add whipped topping and mix with a big spoon and chill.  Serve with toast or popcorn and enjoy!

It would be well for us to do less cooking and to eat more fruit in its natural state. Let us teach the people to eat freely of the fresh grapes, apples, peaches, pears, berries, and all other kinds of fruit that can be obtained. 7T 134

Fruit is so good for us, we need to be sure to eat it every day and a variety.  Did you know that…?

The pomegranate is referred to in 11 Old Testament books. This shows the importance of this fruit.
In Exodus 28:33 we read that the hem of the high priest’s robe was embroidered with pomegranates. Pomegranates were used to ornament the pillars in King Solomon’s Temple (1 Kings 7:20). The spies who went to explore the land of Canaan returned with a single cluster of grapes so large that two men had to carry it on a pole. They also had some pomegranates and figs to prove that the land was fertile (Num. 13:23). Yes, the pomegran - ates grew in abundance in Canaan. So the pomegranate is a special fruit!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE: Sweetest medicine. Eating 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.
WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher...Composed of 92% water; it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene - the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

BANANAS: Contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

PS: Bananas must be the reason monkeys are so happy all the time!

I will add one here; want a quick shine on our shoes?? Take the INSIDE of the banana skin, and rub directly on the shoe...polish with dry cloth. Amazing fruit!

In the New York Times science section (July 17, 2007, page 6) it says:

"People who choose organic fruits and vegetables to avoid pesticides and other chemicals may have another reason to buy organic. A new study finds that organically grown tomatoes have higher levels of flavonoids, which may protect against cardiovascular disease."

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”  Romans 12:1

Let’s present our bodies a living sacrifice by eating to the glory of God. We need to have clear minds to hear the Holy Spirit talking to us and to have healthy bodies to do His will and get the work done so we can go home to heaven!

Tomatoes

The tomato, the Italian "pomodoro," was long regarded as an unhealthy fruit. Though it began to be used in Spain and Italy, it took a long time before it could be eaten in tomato salads, sandwiches, or sauces. In fact, until the 1930s, in our grandmothers' time, it was claimed that eating a raw tomato was lethal and that it needed to be cooked for at least three hours to rid it of its harmful properties!

Fortunately for us, tomatoes are now part of our daily diet. Biting into a juicy, freshly cut tomato, bursting with the flavors of earth and sun, is one of the greatest pleasures of summer. Tomatoes contain calcium and vitamin C, to name just two of their beneficial properties.

A study done recently found that people in Northern Italy who ate 7 or more servings of raw tomatoes per week had up to 60 less chance of developing colon, rectal, or stomach cancers compared to individuals who ate two servings or less. There are also indications that tomatoes may play a role in prevention of heart disease, high cholesterol, and fatty deposits in the arteries. As little as two glasses of tomato juice per day can be very beneficial in preventing these problems.

The tomato is a "vegetable-fruit" that plays an important role in a balanced diet. Low in calories, it is a good source of vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. Its acidic flavor stimulates digestion and assists in nutritional absorption - thanks to the pigments that give it its attractive red color and its content of vitamins C and E, provitamin A and other carotenes. Tomatoes also help maintain the body's acid-base balance and promote ongoing vitality. Lycopenes give tomatoes their red color. Lycopenes are bioflavonoids; antioxidants related to beta-carotene and are present in tomatoes. They are also good for prevention of prostate cancer. Eating raw tomatoes every day may reduce the risk of prostate cancer and other types of cancer, including lung, stomach, pancreatic, breast, cervical, colorectal, oral and esophageal cancers. All forms of tomato (raw, in ketchup, spaghetti sauce, tomato paste, soup, and salsa) had beneficial effect; however, tomatoes cooked in oil (such as in tomato sauce) appeared to be the most protective. Individuals from southern Mediterranean countries, including Portugal, Italy, and Greece, have a low incidence of prostate cancer. Coincidentally, in these countries, tomato consumption is high. Raw salads play a crucial role in our diet. We should have at least one raw salad a day. Raw food means life.

The Truth About Kiwi

Everybody tells us that we need to eat more green foods but sometimes our children give us some resistance when it comes to the green stuff. However one green thing most children love are kiwis, even though they are green and are packed full of nutrients and antioxidants. You can feed kiwis to them every day and won't get a complaint. They are yummy plain but can be cut up in cereal, put in smoothies, and used in fruit salad.

You don't have to tell them all of the nutrition they are getting, but if you are a little curious...continue reading and find the truth about kiwis!

Kiwis are one of nature's perfect foods: low in calories, high in energy and an excellent source of antioxidants. Each one delivers a world of nutrition benefits, including:

Vitamin C: Each serving of kiwifruit has nearly two-and-a-half times the recommended daily allowance of vitamin C, proven to boost the immune system and fight the effects of stress and aging.

No fat: Kiwifruit is fat-free, an important consideration in today's healthy diets and a rarity among foods containing so many other nutritional benefits.

Fiber: Two kiwifruit contain more fiber than a bowl of bran cereal, the tasty way to maintain heart health, regular digestion and lower cholesterol.

Potassium: A serving of California Kiwifruit has more potassium than a banana, ideal for maintaining fluid and electrolyte balance and for releasing energy during exercise.

Antioxidants: Kiwifruit is an excellent source of antioxidants which are important in reducing your risk of cancer, heart disease and stroke.

Low glycemic index: With a glycemic index of 52, kiwifruit is a fat-free, low-carb fruit that's safe for diabetics and a smart part of any weight-loss diet.

Magnesium: Two kiwifruit deliver 30 mg of magnesium, which improves nerve and muscle function while boosting your energy level.

Lutein: Kiwifruit contains the phytochemical lutein, which works to prevent age-related blindness and protect eyes from various kinds of damage.

Folate: With nearly 10% of the recommended daily value of folate, kiwifruit is a good way to protect the health of mother and baby during pregnancy while helping prevent birth defects.

Zinc: Men will appreciate kiwifruit's zinc content, which helps produce testosterone, while everyone can enjoy its other benefits like healthy hair, skin, teeth and nails.

Vitamin E: Kiwifruit is one just a handful of fat-free sources of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps lower cholesterol and boost immunity.

Have you seen how kiwis grow?

Correction

Last month I posted an article about harmful levels of Benzene that build up in parked automobiles and the warning of it. I have since learned that the information given me was false and I apologize. I will be more careful to check things out from now on. Here is the truth...

Summary of the eRumor:

A warning about a chemical called benzene that is linked to cancer such as leukemia .  The warning says that benzene can build up inside parked automobiles and suggests that drivers roll down their windows to ventilate the car's interior prior to switching on the air conditioner.

The Truth:
Benzene is a harmful chemical that can exist both inside vehicles and in the open air but warnings such as this eRumor about airing out your car interior may be overblown.

Correction
The American Chemical Society released a report in 2007 saying that the interiors of motor vehicles were found to contain of a "wide variety of synthetic materials, which emit volatile organic compounds." The investigation concluded that there was no indication of the emissions being any sort of "apparent health hazard of parked motor vehicle indoor air." Go to this link for the report:  http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/es0617901

Benzene comes from coal and petroleum products and is one of the most commonly made chemicals in the United States. It is a colorless liquid with a sweet smell that evaporates when it makes contact with the air.  Benzene is present in cigarette smoke, car exhausts, and can also be found in glues and paints, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The CDC Fact Sheet on Benzene says, "Breathing in unusually high doses of benzene can cause difficulty in thinking, changes in heart function, unconsciousness, or death. In smaller amounts over longer periods of time, benzene can also decrease the formation of blood cells. Benzene is considered to be a cancer-causing chemical."

Exposure to benzene can come from consuming contaminated food or beverages but most people come into contact with it by breathing it in the air. The CDC says, "Benzene gets into the air from forest fires, car emissions, gasoline vapors, and tobacco smoke. People who work with petroleum products, including gasoline, are exposed to benzene by touching or breathing in the chemical."

This warning might have been sparked by a report from almost decade ago by Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). In a December 19, 2001 report, the organization found "high levels of air toxic emissions in new motor vehicles for up to six months and longer after they leave the showroom." That research, however was conducted on three automobiles manufactured in Australia and one imported vehicle, the origin of which was not revealed.

Digestion: A Churning Question

Have you ever noticed when you take your trash out on a hot summer day how ripe it gets in there? It stinks, doesn’t it? On a hot day the warm sun shines down on the moist food inside a garbage can and it gets the sugars in the foods and they all begin to break down and ferment and decay and that’s exactly what we do is make trash cans out of our stomachs, rotting, fermenting and decay takes place right inside our own bodies.

How does it affect you? What types of foods do that and how can you prevent it?

Digestion is an issue that many people really do NOT understand. They don’t understand how important it is and how it plays into their health and their proper assimilation of food.

Where does digestion start? Sight and smell begin digestion process. It triggers the stomach to get activated for food that is coming.

So far no food has entered the system but it's very important to get the system ready by drinking 2-3 glasses of water ½ hour before we eat as the body needs digestive juices to properly break the food down. It needs to be water so you are not stimulating the stomach for digestion, juice, coke, milk or any other liquid starts digestion, so just water because then it will rush straight to the stomach in 15-30 minutes. If it has any sugar or chemicals that the digestive process acts on then it will delay it. The water needs to be OUT of the stomach before food enters.

Warm or room temperature water is best or the stomach as to warm it up first and it takes longer.

If you look at the structure of mouth you see biting teeth in front and chewing teeth in the back. This give us an idea of what we are designed to eat, not to tear food and swallow whole but to bite, off what we can chew and then swallow. We are not like dogs. They can handle huge amounts of butter fat and their cholesterol will never rise but if you give that same butter fat to a bunny their cholesterol will go up. We need to chew our food very well; our stomach does not have teeth, so chew your food because there are no teeth in the stomach, so chew your food until it is the consistency of applesauce.

The key parts of digestion begin when chewing our food. Our molars are designed to chew food. It breaks down the amylase that breaks down the complex sugar called carbohydrate into sugars and that is what the body wants for energy so it begins to digest that carbohydrate for that energy source immediately beginning in the mouth.

There is no need to drink when eating because if you have had your water the saliva will flow so abundantly you won't be thirsty at all. If you drink any liquid w/meals chewing is less than ideal and it will slow down the digestive process as the stomach ends up having to do the chewing and it has to chemically chew it and it takes lots longer as it has to mix the digestive juices with the food to break the food down.

The stomach should be done digesting in about 4 hours and then another hour to empty. You should never put any more food in your body until this process is done.

Have you ever left food out all day and then realize it's no good? Well that’s because the warmth spoiled it. In our bodies the temp is higher than room temp so the rate of decay, putrefaction is actually accelerated then you get heart burn and reflex, indigestion and gastritis and gastro enteritis and can cause vomiting and diarrhea.

When you go on a trip in your car do you fill w/gas? Same with our bodies they want a full tank as we begin the day so it can take us thru the day.

One thing all overweight people have in common…….no bkfst!!! When you eat an evening meal you tend to follow that with no activity because the day is ending and we are tired and want to rest, so while our body is trying to rest the stomach is in full gear working and we wake up totally fatigued with no appetite and so we don’t eat breakfast.

Breakfast should be eaten like a king, lunch like a queen and supper like a pauper if at all.

If you put too much food in your stomach it begins to ferment and rot and also from eating between meals. Fluids drank irritates the stomach (called gastritis) can actually trigger your brain into thinking its hungry again. So it’s a viscous cycle of overeating and taxing the system. The stomach is not the only organ involved in digestion, the pancreas, liver, and gallbladder are all involved too!

The stomach is a dynamic organ preparing the food for the small intestine. It’s a under the rib cage and on the right by small intestine. We are designed to digest food while we are awake and upright so that when the food is being moved up and gravity pushes it back down and the stomach pushes it back up and then gravity back down and if you are laying down then this whole process is not working as well. The emptying point of the stomach has a muscle with receptors and tells the pylorus to open so the food can move out but if the food is too big or the temperature is not just right or if not enough acid level developed it will say keep mixing…and finally when the stomach has completely prepared the food so all the receptor sites are satisfied then the pyloric muscle will relax and food will empty out at a small rate as quickly as the small intestine can handle the food then more is given. It's not like flushing the toilet and out it all goes.
Our bodies are designed to run on a time release mechanism. The most important nutrient our body wants is sugar, but it wants it slowly so our Creator has designed sugar with fiber which acts as a sponge to hold back the rush of sugar into the system. Take an apple, you eat it and as it mixes in the stomach it gels up and it's like a sponge. It slowly provides with a little sugar, but if you drink just apple juice it will go right thru like a burst to the system rather than a slow release.

Most heart attacks come in at night cuz they ate a heavy meal….digestion of fat is delayed and the heavy meal is digested after about 5 hours and then the food begins to empty into the small intestine and that is where the fat digestion occurs because the gallbladder releases the bile and the bile mixes with the fat so that it can be dissolved in water and brought into the blood stream. As soon as the fat enters the blood stream when it is in high concentrations it makes the red blood cells stick together and when that happens the person is more prone to develop a blood clot and as it moves to that narrow coronary artery the blood flow stops and the heart attack follows.

Lets look at a man who eats a huge meal and then eats at 10 pm. The pylorus will tell stomach to empty when everything is just right, then you throw off the perfect balance and everything stops and so the pylorus cleans stops and the acid level and particle size has to be just right or it wont release the food, so it has to start all over, its like a foreign body. There have been numerous studies and if you eat every 2 hours starting at bkfst and then take a tube and put it in the stomach to empty it you will still find your breakfast is still in there!!!

Putrefaction fermentation makes alcohol in your stomach.

In the brain stem which is between the spinal cord and the brain which is called the reticular activating system which keeps you awake and alert and on top of things, however its that same part of the system that drives digestion so if you eat a heavy meal and want to fall asleep its because the nervous energy that is trying to keep you awake and alert is trying to digest your food, but the stomach will demand that nervous energy, so its best to go for a brisk walk after the meal.

Eat a good breakfast, wait 5-6 hours before you eat another meal and drink nothing, but water between so your stomach can rest.

Any defect in one phase of digestion hampers another. As an example: eating between meals not only increases stomach emptying time, but also confuses the colon so that defecation schedule may be altered, resulting in constipation.
Nutrition for Vegetarians by Dr. Calvin and Dr. Agatha Thrash, page 93.

Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are to be a living sacrifice so how we treat them is very important! God gave us the instruction and He knows best, so let's do the right thing to keep healthy!

Meat Facts

Chronic Diseases

Nearly 1.5 million Americans are crippled and killed each year by heart failure, stroke, cancer, and other chronic diseases associated with excessive consumption of meat and animal fat. The elements held principally accountable include saturated fat, cholesterol, hormones, pesticides, nitrites.

The routine use of antibiotics in animal feed has jeopardized consumer resistance to infectious diseases, while implantation of hormones in farm animals has led to abnormal sexual development in children.

The nutritional value of meat has been greatly exaggerated by the meat industry. Its highly touted protein level ranks along side that of soybeans, lentils, nuts, and seeds, but it comes heavily laced with saturated fat. Moreover, meat is totally lacking in carbohydrates-the most readily usable source of energy, contains very little calcium needed to build healthy bones, and its vitamin content is spotty at best.

World Hunger

While 800 million people around the world face agonizing starvation, we continue feeding to animals the grains and legumes that could save these lives. Production of these foodstuffs uses up to 90 percent of our agricultural resources, drastically depletes our vital topsoil and groundwater, and jeopardizes our own ability to grow sufficient food for our future needs.

Environmental Devastation

Millions of acres of forestland are devastated through conversion to grazing land and cropland to feed farm animals, both in the U.S. and abroad. Runoff from these lands carries suspended and dissolved solids, organic matter, nutrients, and pesticides into our lakes and streams, accounting for more water pollution than all other human activities combined. Overgrazing and intensive cultivation eventually turn these lands into desert, posing a severe long-term threat to our survival.

Animal Suffering

Animals raised for food account for 95 percent of the six billion warm-blooded, feeling animals that are abused and killed in the U.S. each year. That works out to 75 animals annually for the average family.

For most farm animals, slaughter brings welcome relief from the unceasing agony of crowding, deprivation, manhandling, and mutilation that governs life on today's   factory farms. Veal calves are torn from their mothers immediately upon birth, chained by the neck, without bedding, in wood crates that encase their bodies, and fed a 1 liquid diet deficient in iron and fiber for 14-16 weeks. Breeding sows are forced to give birth and to nurse their piglets under similar conditions.

Force-feeding, genetic manipulation, artificial insemination, and loss of offspring are standard operating procedures. Earnotching, tail-docking, debeaking, dehorning, branding, castration, and other painful mutilations are performed routinely without anaesthetic or surgical training.

Again and again I have been shown that God is trying to lead us back, step by step, to His original design—that man should subsist upon the natural products of the earth. Among those who are waiting for the coming of the Lord, meat eating will eventually be done away; flesh will cease to form a part of their diet. We should ever keep this end in view, and endeavor to work steadily toward it....CH 450

Vegetables, fruits, and grains should compose our diet. Not an ounce of flesh-meat should enter our stomachs. The eating of flesh is unnatural. We are to return to God’s original purpose in the creation of man. Manuscript 115, 1903

Is it not time that all should aim to dispense with flesh foods? How can those who are seeking to become pure, refined, and holy, that they may have the companionship of heavenly angels, continue to use as food anything that has so harmful an effect on soul and body? How can they take the life of God’s creatures that they may consume the flesh as a luxury? Let them, rather, return to the wholesome and delicious food given to man in the beginning, and themselves practice, and teach their children to practice, mercy toward the dumb creatures that God has made and has placed under our dominion. The Ministry of Healing, Page 317

Again and again I have been shown that God is trying to lead us back, step by step, to his original design,—that man should subsist upon the natural products of the earth. Among those who are waiting for the coming of the Lord, meat-eating will eventually be done away; flesh will cease to form a part of their diet. We should ever keep this end in view, and endeavor to work steadily toward it. I cannot think that in the practice of flesh-eating we are in harmony with the light which God has been pleased to give us. All who are connected with our health institutions especially should be educating themselves to subsist on fruits, grains, and vegetables. If we move from principle in these things, if we as Christian reformers educate our own taste, and bring our diet to God’s plan, then we may exert an influence upon others in this matter, which will be pleasing to God. Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, Page 119

The liability to take disease is increased tenfold by meat eating. The intellectual, the moral, and the physical powers are depreciated by the habitual use of flesh meats. Meat eating deranges the system, beclouds the intellect, and blunts the moral sensibilities. We say to you, dear brother and sister, your safest course is to let meat alone. Testimonies for the Church Volume 2, Page 64

The animals are diseased, and by partaking of their flesh, we plant the seeds of disease in our own tissue and blood. Then when exposed to the changes in a malarious atmosphere, these are more sensibly felt; also when we are exposed to prevailing epidemics and contagious diseases, the system is not in a condition to resist the disease.—Extracts from Unpublished Testimonies in Regard to Flesh Foods, 8, 1896.

In a country such as this, where there are fruits, grains, and nuts in abundance, how can one think that he must eat the flesh of dead animals?—Manuscript 50, 1904

A meat diet changes the disposition and strengthens animalism. We are composed of what we eat, and eating much flesh will diminish intellectual activity. Students would accomplish much more in their studies if they never tasted meat. When the animal part of the human agent is strengthened by meat-eating, the intellectual powers diminish proportionately. A religious life can be more successfully gained and maintained if meat is discarded, for this diet stimulates into intense activities lustful propensities, and enfeebles the moral and spiritual nature. “The flesh warreth against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh.”Extracts from Unpublished Testimonies in Regard to Flesh Foods, Page 7

If things were as they should be in the households that make up our churches, we might do double service for the Lord. The light given me is that a most decided message must be borne in regard to health reform. Those who use flesh meat strengthen the lower propensities and prepare the way for disease to fasten upon them.—Letter 200, 1903

The effects of a flesh diet may not be immediately realized; but this is no evidence that it is not harmful. Few can be made to believe that it is the meat they have eaten which has poisoned their blood and caused their suffering. Many die of diseases wholly due to meat eating, while the real cause is not suspected by themselves or by others. The Ministry of Healing, Page 315

It is for their own good that the Lord counsels the remnant church to discard the use of flesh meats, tea, and coffee, and other harmful foods. There are plenty of other things on which we can subsist that are wholesome and good.  Manuscript 71, 1908

God's plan is always the best. Let us choose His plan for our lives. Only it can give us the happiest future!

HEALTH NEWS ~ JULY

Eating healthy is my passion and I love to collect and try new recipes.  I have over 1700 recipes on my computer “cookbook”.  Eating healthy doesn't mean the food has to taste bad. The Recipe of the month is Alfredo. It is simple, easy and very tasty.

Creamy Alfredo Sauce

½ c. raw cashews
1¼ c. water
1 T. unbleached white flour
1 T. vegan chicken seasoning (recipe to follow)
¼ t. onion powder
½ t. real salt
1 t. basil

Blend cashews, flour, seasoning, onion powder, salt and water until creamy.  Pour blended mixture into saucepan and bring to a slow boil.  Add basil and remove from heat.  Ladle over cooked fettuccine noodles and serve with steamed broccoli pieces and a fresh salad.

Chicken Style Seasoning

4 t. celery salt
1 t. turmeric
4 t. onion powder
½ t. garlic powder
¼ t. marjoram
4 t. parsley flakes
Pinch savory
Real salt to taste (better to leave it out and add to taste tho)

God wants us to be healthy. In 3John 2 it says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Isn’t that wonderful? God wants us to be in good health. He does not want us to be sick and that is why He gave us such wonderful counsel on how to eat, when to eat and what to eat.

What we eat really does affect our health and moral strength and our usefulness in this world.

Actually we are told just that in our inspired writings of Ellen White. She says in Child Guidance the following on page 398. “True temperance teaches us to dispense entirely with everything hurtful, and to use judiciously that which is healthful. There are few who realize as they should how much their habits of diet have to do with their health, their character, their usefulness in this world, and their eternal Destiny. The appetite should ever be in subjection to the moral and intellectual powers. The body should be servant to the mind, and not the mind to the body.”

Interesting Fact:  Because of crowded, dirty conditions, more than 80% of the pigs bred in the U.S. have contracted pneumonia by the time they are slaughtered.

Researchers found that people who eat the most processed meats (bacon, ham, bologna etc.) have a 68% higher risk of pancreatic cancer than those who eat the least of those meats.

Thank you God for healthy foods and a country that freely supplies them!

God Bless America!

The NotMilkWoman's Ten Rules

I got this article today from the Not Milk Man and he is not even SDA and talks about and promotes E. G. White and her writings. I just had to re-post it, here it is.

Had she lived today, I would have been out of a job and title. Meet the NotMilkwoman, Ellen G. White (1827 - 1915)

I have the advantage of citing scientific studies from peer-reviewed studies to work into my daily columns. Ellen G. White just "knew" milk did not do the body any good. Many believe that her visions were divinely inspired.

I've compiled a list of ten of my favorite Ellen White anti-dairy quotations. Please share them with friends. Print this list and attach it to the side of your refrigerator. Leave a copy of these ten quotes at every inappropriate picnic or buffet-table cheese dish.

Rule #1
Cheese should never be introduced into the stomach. (Ministry of Healing, 1905)

Rule #2
It will not be very long before we shall have to give up any animal food. Even milk will have to be discarded. (Australasian Union Conference Record, July 28, 1899)

Rule #3
When the time comes that it is no longer safe to use milk, cream, butter, and eggs, God will reveal this. (Testimonies, Volume 2, 1868)

Rule #4
Large quantities of milk and sugar eaten together are injurious. They impart impurities to the system. (Testimonies, Volume 2, 1868)

Rule #5
Sugar and the milk combined are liable to cause fermentation in the stomach, and are thus harmful. (Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, 1890)

Rule #6
Animals from which milk is obtained are not always healthy. They may be diseased.
(Testimonies, Volume 2, 1870)

Rule #7
As disease in animals increases, the use of milk and eggs will become more and more unsafe.
(Ministry of Healing, 1905)

Rule #8
I would recommend that people eat flesh meats sooner than large quantities of milk and sugar. It would not do the injury that milk and sugar do. (Testimonies, Volume 2, 1870)

Rule #9
The health food business purpose is to supply the people with food which will take the place of flesh meat, and also milk and butter. (Australasian Union Conference Record, January 1, 1900)

Rule #10
Let the people be taught how to prepare food without the use of milk or butter. (Testimonies, Volume 7, 1902)

Through a 70-year writing and speaking career, Ellen White's message was clarity. She argued that cleansing one's body would become the first step in cleansing one's soul. In order to see truth, one needs clarity.

How beautifully we can combine her religious insights with today's scientific evidence. We know that milk protein, casein, triggers the production of histamines. After eating cheese or ice cream, one manufactures mucus, and plenty of it. The kidneys, pancreas, lungs, thymus--all fill with viscous mucus. Collectively, the human body and organs become congested with 3-4 extra quarts of mucus which result in an "internal fog".

Take Ellen White's advice and rid yourself of this fog. Do not eat any dairy product for seven days. Not ice cream. Not pizza. Not yogurt.

That is all that it will take for you to have physical clarity. Without physical clarity, one can never reach true spiritual clarity. There will always be vestiges of fog to cloud your vision. The Notmilkwoman waited for a time in which "God will reveal" when it is no longer safe to use consume milk and dairy.

Through thousands of converging lines of evidence in scientific journal articles, that merger of science and religion has taken 21st century humans to a new potential. Join Ellen G. White and Robert Cohen in the Notmilk movement.

The Corporate Buyout of our Health

No, I’m not talking about HMO’s, but that’s another thing that didn't improve medical care, but it did improve insurance companies’ profits. I am talking about the selling of health businesses and herbal medicine companies to big corporations.

Coca Cola bought out Odwalla juice. That was a nightmare. Their bad processes made people sick and caused pasteurization laws to be passed so now we can only buy cooked apple juice.

Pepsi Cola bought out Naked Juice, so now most of our fresh juices are being produced by Coke, Pepsi and other soda pop companies.

Kraft Foods, the people who make Velveeta imitation cheese, bought out Boca Burger, the veggie burger company, and that quality went down. (By the way, Kraft Foods is owned by tobacco giant Phillip Morris.)

Lipton, the huge black tea company, bought out Celestial Seasonings Herbal Teas, and we got prettier packaging, not better product!

Mars Incorporated, the huge candy bar company (M&M’s and Snickers), bought out what used to be an awesome Organic seed and food company, Seeds of Change.

Traditional Medicinal Teas – SOLD and is no longer owned by the great California herbalist Rosemary Gladstar anymore. In fact, I just searched for her name on their corporate website and nothing came back!

Janet Zand’s herbal products – SOLD and is no longer owned by Janet anymore. (By the way, I couldn’t find her name on the company website anymore, either.)

Burt’s Bees – SOLD to Clorox.

Get my point here? The Soda Pop, Candy Bar and Junk Food industries are taking over our Health Food Industry!

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil, although saturated, is good when used in moderation. The fatty acids in coconut oil are shorter chains of carbon atoms, which make a difference in the way our body handles them. Saturated fatty acids with 18 carbons (long chains) appear to be the ones that have the negative effect in our body. This type of saturated fat is more abundant in products of animal origin. In fact, some studies seem to show that the real culprit may not be the saturated fat itself but the animal protein that comes along with it. Many authorities in nutrition are proposing that the real culprit and most powerful blood cholesterol elevator is the animal protein.

Who are the people with the highest rates of hypercholesterolemia? The ones who eat the typical western diet, high in animal food and refined vegetable oils? Or the inhabitants of the developing countries who eat diets low in animal product and high in coconut and coconut products and oils?

Another point in favor of coconut oil is that because it is saturated and made of medium and short chains of fatty acids it is more stable (resistant to oxidation). It can resist higher temperatures (cooking) and more exposure to light; therefore, it has a longer shelf-life. Whereas vegetable oils, which are long chains of polyunsaturated fatty acids are less stable and more prone to oxidation.

According to many authorities in nutrition, the best oils to use are the monounsaturated ones, like olive oil and avocado oil, and the short chain, saturated coconut oil. The more unsaturated oils (the polyunsaturated vegetable oils) need to be used freshly extracted because they are easily oxidized. Also, the vegetable oils like corn oil, safflower oil, cottonseed oil, etc., are very high in the linoleic fatty acid, which is used by the body to make prostaglandins that favor inflammation, thus increasing the risk of chronic diseases like coronary heart disease, arthritis, cancer, etc.

Coconut oil has gotten bad publicity over the years, but only because of a propaganda smear campaign by the soybean industry. The public has been lied to for many years regarding the benefits of coconut oil. The Asian countries of the world have used this as a staple for hundreds of years with no bad effects. And, they have one of the lowest incidences of heart disease.

Supersized Ban on Soda, but Not on Milkshakes

This week, New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg proposed banning XL coffee drinks at Starbuck$, and XL-sugary sodas at fast food restaurants and Yankee Stadium. The Mayor is taking away the fun of spending $6.50 to help pay for A-Rod's $30 million 2012 salary. That's $185,000 per game!!!  In 1969 a Yankee Stadium soda cost only 25 cents and we had no obesity epidemic.

A Supersized 32 ounce Coke contains 267 calories and 64.76 grams of sugar.

A Supersized 32 ounce vanilla milkshake contains almost four times as many calories (1,024) as the soda, and almost two and one-half times as much sugar (161 grams).

Growth Hormones: Soda contains zero growth hormones. Milk and milkshakes contain the most powerful growth hormone known to science, IGF-I. Professional athletes caught taking that same growth hormone become suspended from their sport. Children, who take that same growth hormone and sit home on the couch, grow fat.

In 1969 when that soda at The Stadium cost 25 cents, the average American ate ten pounds of cheese per year. In 2012, the average American will eat 32 pounds of cheese. Stop blaming soda and Starbuck$ Vente Lattes for obesity. By doing so, you're milking an obscene lie.

Be fair. Do the math, and place the blame where it belongs. Today, dairy (with natural growth hormones) represents 40 percent of the average American diet.

When are we going to follow God's advice and follow Gen 1:29?

Nutrition Does Affect What We Do

I came across this information and I thought it was powerful. To all of those who think it doesn't matter what we eat, here you go.

Crime and Nutrition

Study of prison systems in 5 states
·       Adult felons had deficiencies of Magnesium, Zinc, Folate or B6
·       Violent offenders had 5-9 deficiencies in all 5 states

OK Children’s Center

  • Change of diet resulted in 43% reduction in serious crime (high fat and sucrose in offenders)
  • Brain Wave abnormalities EEG in felons
  • Went from 14 -2 switching diet
  • One child went from 6 to 0

Selenium and Behavior

  • Deficiencies cause depression and confusion
  • High selenium supplementation (227ug/d) saw significant improvement in mood
  • Newer studies show that selenium plays a major role in brain function

Sugar Consumption and Behavior

  • 1900 4 lbs. yr
  • Now 129 yr 2500% increase
  • 57% of this comes from processed foods
  • Leading source is fruit juices and sodas (43%)
  • Apple juice, 35g of sugar all berry juices extremely high in sugar
  • Since 1974 consumption of sodas has doubled, teens are drinking 54 t. sugar a day
  • Limit should be 10 t. day
  • Study from UNC chapel hill found:

·       If have hypoglycemia and add MSG, greatly magnified. Doritos high in MSG that’s why they taste so good. Excitotoxicity destroys brain cells
·       Several amino acids can make you hypoglycemic

Study of violent offenders in prison…..changes in blood sugar causes these antisocial behaviors and make you do things you would not normally do.

Sugar in children
