Why Not Juicing?

QUESTION: What is a good juice for cleansing the body?

 
I don't recommend juicing, especially vegetable juice because coarse veggies are not to be taken into the system raw...listen to what the Spirit of Prophecy says about the way to cleanse the body.

ANSWER: You want to know what is best for cleansing the body?  Yes.

WHAT ARE HIS REMEDIES?
“Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power--these are the true remedies.”   (MH 127.2) (1905)
 
WE ARE ALSO TOLD:
“…Water is the best liquid possible to cleanse the tissues.” {CD 421.3}

Note: We cannot improve on that which Christ has given us.
 
WE ARE COUNSELED NOT TO TAKE OUR FOOD IN A LIQUID STATE
“Taken in a liquid state, your food would not give healthful vigor or tone to the system. But when you change this habit, and eat more solids and less liquids, your stomach will feel disturbed. Notwithstanding this, you should not yield the point; you should educate your stomach to bear a more solid diet.” {CD 105.1}

• Fill out a lifestyle assessment form
• Fast a day or two
• Do the 2 month program
• Take frequent warm baths and whatever water treatment recommended for the condition
• Include herbs in your program that clean the blood
• THE BEST LIQUID FOR CLEANSING THE BODY = WATER   {CD 421.3}
• The only juice recommended by the prophet and Bible is FRUIT JUICE and that is only for special occasions weddings; stomach problems; hot weather, etc.

ARE CARROTS A FRUIT OR VEGGIE?

Can you find anywhere in the Bible or Spirit of Prophecy where they drank vegetable juice? Remember, anything we do, we want our findings from the Bible & SOP, and not man's wisdom...

OKAY, DID YOU SEE WHERE SISTER WHITE SAID WE SHOULD KNOW WHAT FOODS ARE DEFICIENT IN MINERALS (ELEMENTS)? Yes or No?

• Did you see how she listed CONDIMENTS, TEA, COFFEE, SPICES, etc.?  YES OR NO?
• But did you also see how she listed COARSE VEGETABLES (hard)?  YES OR NO 

LET ME TELL YOU WHY COARSE VEGETABLES ARE LISTED AS DEFICIENT IN MINERALS
Because they have to be cooked in order for an enzyme to be broken down. Without cooking, iodine is stolen from the body causing all types of problems, including hypothyroidism. Medical science is saying this today. Other minerals are stolen as well.
 
QUESTION: Are carrots cooked or raw in juicing?
ANSWER: Raw
The reason carrot juicing seems good is because although the raw juice is not good, when people juice, they are on a fast with no oil, sugar, refined foods, so they are going to see benefits, but it's not really from the raw carrots. It's from the fasting they are doing. Do you know what Sister White says is the best fasts when we are sick?
 
WHAT IS THE BEST FAST WHEN SICK?
“Intemperate eating is often the cause of sickness, and what nature most needs is to be relieved of the undue burden that has been placed upon her. In many cases of sickness, the very best remedy is for the patient to fast for a meal or two…A fruit diet for a few days has often brought great relief to brain workers. Many times a short period of entire abstinence from food, followed by simple, moderate eating, has led to recovery through nature's own recuperative effort. An abstemious diet for a month or two would convince many sufferers that the path of self-denial is the path to health.” {CD 189.3} (more on fasting in the future) Also see: 7T 134.2
 
SHE MENTIONS 3 TYPES OF FASTING THERE FOR DISEASE:
Please list what they are and tell me if she says anything about juicing vegetables.

IN THE VERY LAST SENTENCE OF THAT QUOTE, WHAT TYPE OF DIET DID SHE SAY PEOPLE WOULD SEE HEALTH IN 1 TO 2 MONTHS?  An Abstemious diet

• Now did she mention anything about juicing veggies? NO

Now this is the key...An abstemious diet...most people want to juice, take herbs, etc., but they don't want to do an abstemious diet which will bring healing faster than anything else.

NOW PLEASE LIST THE 4 THINGS THAT MAKE A DIET ABSTEMIOUS

• NOTHING HARMFUL PASSING THE LIPS (like condiments (store bought ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce), anything with vinegar, MSG (Braggs and soy sauce), hot peppers, spices, white products, additives, food coloring, etc.) baking soda, baking powder, sugar, refined salt, etc.
• EAT MUCH MORE SPARINGLY (not eating more than 3 or 4 dishes at or 2 to 3 kinds of food at one meal...I will give you the quotes for this in a bit...not piling on the food and going back for 2nds, 3rds, 4ths...she says we should fill our plate once and not too much.
• EAT SIMPLE FOOD/SIMPLE DIET (fruit, vegetables, nuts, grains, seeds)
• FOOD THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE A LOT OF SEASONING (veggies don't need a lot of salt...but veggie meats require a lot of seasoning... as do other things)
  

 
NOW HOW MANY OF US CAN SAY WE REALLY EAT LIKE THAT?

• Beans are good, and fruit, salads that are not mixed with fruit or fruit dressings.

GETTING BACK THE JUICING....Is JUICING CARROTS, FOOD IN A LIQUID STATE?

• Q: IS CARROT JUICE FOOD IN A LIQUID STATE?
• A: Yes, it is food in liquid state.

PLEASE READ WHAT SHE SAYS HAPPENS WHEN WE TAKE OUR FOOD IN A LIQUID STATE (I am referring to vegetable juice, not fruit...they drank a little fruit juice for medicine and weddings, no more than 6 oz.)
“So much liquid taken into the stomach was not healthful, and that all who subsisted on such a diet placed a great tax upon the kidneys, and so much watery substance debilitated the stomach.” {CD 105.2}
 
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BODY? IS THIS A GOOD OR BAD THING?
She was referring to soup and coffee in this quote, but she says any liquid diet is bad.

LIST THE 3 FOODS SHE SAYS WE ARE TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO EAT INSTEAD OF A LIQUID DIET:

• Fruits, vegetables, and bread

Bread is from grain, but specifically whole grain bread, not refined, not white or unbleached flour bread, but different whole grains mixed together.
 
So, we are to do the air, water, sunshine, exercise, trust in God, rest to cleanse the system, along with good
herbs, an abstemious diet, and that's about it. No hard at all water should be inside and out. Not for cooking, cleaning, bathing, washing hands, etc. {CD 419.2/.4}                                                                                                               
QUESTION: WHAT WAS THE RECOVERY PERCENTAGE RATE IN SISTER WHITE’S DAY FOR HEALING; AND DID THEY USE VEGETABLE JUICE TO GET THAT PERCENTAGE?
The answer is at the end of the quote:
 
“Nature will want some assistance to bring things to their proper condition, which may be found in the simplest remedies, especially in the use of nature's own furnished remedies--pure air, and with a precious knowledge of how to breathe; pure water, with a knowledge how to apply it; plenty of sunlight in every room in the house if possible, and with an intelligent knowledge of what advantages are to be gained by its use. All these are powerful in their efficiency, and the patient who has obtained a knowledge of how to eat and dress healthfully may live for comfort, for peace, for health, and will not be prevailed upon to put to his lips drugs, which, in the place of helping nature, paralyzes her powers. If the sick and suffering will do only as well as they know in regard to living out the principles of health reform perseveringly, then THEY WILL IN NINE CASES OUT OF TEN RECOVER FROM THEIR AILMENTS.” {MM 223.4}
 
Note: 9 out of 10 = 90%...
Is that a huge percentage rate for those whose doctors said they have no chance of living? Absolutely it is!!!

• Fast a meal or two or a day or two

• Make an herbal formula (a tea with 3 to 4 herbs only that will cleanse your blood and liver)
  
• Soak in warm water a couple of times a week
  
• Do charcoal poultice over your liver to detoxify it
  
• Eat strictly (abstemious diet)
  
• Sunshine, walking, dress right (with leggings, long sleeves, no low-cut tops, no high heels, warm in winter and thin natural clothing in summer,) rest, trust in God, water,

Anyone in darkness, that if God has any new light, He will reveal it to us without us having to go to those in

ANSWER:  It is true many have been benefited, and this is because they are on a fast where there is no
flesh food, animal products, refined items, fried food etc. However, the drawbacks outweigh the

WHAT ELSE IS CONSIDERED TO BE DRUG POISONS?
“From our study of the testimonies and the little work, how to live, we can see that the Lord is strongly opposed to the use of drugs in our medical work. . . .several of the students are in doubt as to the meaning of the word 'drug' as mentioned in How To Live. Does it refer only to the stronger medicines as mercury, strychnine, arsenic, and such poisons, the things we medical students call 'drugs,' or does it also include the simpler remedies, as potassium, iodine, squills, etc.? We know that our success will be proportionate to our adherence to God's methods. For this reason I have asked the above question.”  {2SM 278.3} 1893
 
HER RESPONSE:
Your questions, I will say, are answered largely, if not definitely, in How to Live. Drug poisons mean the articles which you have mentioned. The simpler remedies are less harmful in proportion to their simplicity; but in very many cases these are used when not at all necessary. There are simple herbs and roots that every family may use for themselves and need not call a physician any sooner than they would call a lawyer. I do not think that I can give you any definite line of medicines compounded and dealt out by doctors, that are perfectly harmless. And yet it would not be wisdom to engage in controversy over this subject.”  {2SM 279.1} 1893
 
“Every poisonous preparation in the vegetable and mineral kingdoms, taken into the system, will leave its wretched influence, affecting the liver and lungs, and deranging the system generally.” {HL 245.1}
 
“Not a poisonous drug should be used.  When you have a case that does not respond to the use of simple remedies, take it to the Lord in prayer...” (PC 43.1) 
 
“…That which we lack in faith we make up by the use of drugs. Let us give up the drugs believing that Jesus does not desire us to be sick...”  (19MR 51.2)
WHAT IF SOMEONE IS ALREADY ON DRUG MEDICATION?
“Drug medication should be worked away from as fast as possible, until entirely discarded.” (CD 406.4) 1884
 
***Never tell a person to get off of their medication, (unless working at a Lifestyle Center).  Teach them the laws of health and then their levels will drop, causing the Doctor's to have to decrease the dosage and eventually discontinue the medication altogether.
 
WHY NOT DRUGS?
“When drugs are introduced into the system, for a time they may seem to have a beneficial effect.
A change may take place, but the disease is not cured. It will manifest itself in some other form. In nature’s efforts to expel the drug from the system, intense suffering is sometimes caused the patient, and the disease, which the drug was given to cure, may disappear, but only to re-appear in a new form, such as skin diseases, ulcers, painful diseased joints, and sometimes in a more dangerous and deadly form. The liver, heart and brain are frequently affected by drugs, and often all these organs are burdened with disease, and the unfortunate subjects, if they live, are invalids for life, wearily dragging out a miserable existence. Oh, how much that poisonous drug cost! If it did not cost the life, it cost quite too much...” (4aSG 135.1) 1899
 
“…A doctor…deals out poisonous medicines…if it was not diseased in reality before, it is after this process. It suffers now from drug-disease, the most stubborn and incurable of all diseases. If it recovers, it must bear about more or less in its system the effects of that poisonous drug, and is liable to spasms, heart disease, dropsy (swelling) on the brain, or consumption (TB)...” {2SM 468.1} 1866

“The question of health reform is not agitated as it must and will be. A simple diet, and the entire absence of drugs, leaving nature free to recuperate the wasted energies of the body, would make our sanitariums far more effectual in restoring the sick to health.” {CD 304.1} 1896

“Thousands who are afflicted might recover their health if, instead of depending upon the drugstore for their life, they would discard all drugs and live simply…” {MM 229.4} 1903

Q: WHY ARE DRUGS SO HARMFUL TO SOME PEOPLE AND NOT TO OTHERS?

A: “This drug does not have the same effect upon all. Some who have powerful constitutions can recover from abuses who which they subject the system. While others, whose hold of life is not as strong, who possess enfeebled constitutions, have never recovered from receiving into the system even one dose, and many die from no other cause than the effects of one portion of the poison. Its effects are always tending to death…” {2SM 449.1} 1899

“Drug takers are never well. They are always taking cold, which causes extreme suffering...” {HL 209.5}   1899

“From beginning to end, the crime of tobacco using, of opium and drug medication, has its origin in perverted knowledge…this great knowledge, supposed by men to be so wonderful, God did not mean that man should have. They are using the poisonous productions that Satan himself has planted…men are dealing in liquors and narcotics that are destroying the human family.”  {Te 75.1}  1898

WHAT ABOUT NEW MEDICATIONS ON THE MARKET?

“The endless variety of medicines in the market, the numerous advertisements of new drugs and mixtures all of which claim to do wonderful cures, kill hundreds where they benefit one...” (HL 245.1) 1899

SHOULD GOD’S PEOPLE ADMINISTER DRUG MEDICATION TO THE SICK?
“Some will have medicine at all events. Then let them take these hurtful mixtures and the various deadly poisons upon their own responsibility. God’s servants should not administer medicines which they know will leave behind injurious effects upon the system, even if they do relieve present suffering…” (HL 245.1) 1864

BUT DIDN’T SISTER WHITE SUPPORT THE USE OF DRUG MEDICATION?
“In regard to the book on Christian temperance, that portion that was expressed in reference to drug medication as though it was recommended by me is not according to the light that I have been given to present to the people. I must, if I made this statement, have done so in expressing the idea of working away from the use of all drugs concocted at the apothecary. We have no use for them. We should not vindicate the use of drug medication…” {20MR 36.2} 1897

“…Dispense with medicines of every description…” (4aSG 145.3) 1864

DRUG TAKING = A LACK OF FAITH:
“…Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.” He promises to come to us as a Comforter to bless us. Why do we not believe these promises? That which we lack in faith we make up by the use of drugs. Let us give up the drugs, believing that Jesus does not desire us to be sick, and that if we live according to the principles of health reform, he will keep us well.”  {19MR 51.2} 1902

WE CAN WITH SAFETY DISCARD ALL DRUGS:
“Our Saviour… has supplied in the natural world remedies for the ills of man…we can with safety discard the concoctions which man has used in the past.” {2SM 289.1}

WHAT ABOUT THE SCHOOLS OF MEDICINE?

“Not one of the schools of medicine is highly lauded in the world is approved in the courts above, nor do they bear heavenly superscription and endorsement…” {PH066 40.3} 1890

“I have been pained when many students have been encouraged to go where they would receive an education in the use of drugs…” {MM 228.4}

A WORD OF CAUTION:
“…You must not always let the patients know that you discard drugs entirely, until they become intelligent on the subject. You often place yourself in positions where you hurt your influence and do no one any good, by expressing all your convictions. Thus you cut yourself away from the people. You should modify your strong prejudices.” {2SM 287.2}   1899

• Tylenol in pregnancy can hurt the fetus.
• Anti-depressants linked to bone fractures in menopausal women.
• Anti-depressants can cause “suicide” and “homicide”
• And so MUCH MORE 

IN THE ‘CLEVELAND DAILY BANNER’ DR. JAMES L. MARCUM WROTE A BOOK CALLED ‘MEDICATIONS THAT KILL’.  HE IS A BOARD CERTIFIED CARDIOLOGIST.  HE SAYS:

Prescription drugs and OTC (over the counter) drugs are a leading cause of death in America

He says, “I want to make the case that medications are the leading cause of death, at least in North America.” “More deaths have been caused by drug-taking than from all other causes combined…” (2SM 450.2)

POWERFUL QUOTE WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER:

“We are not excusable if through ignorance we destroy God's building by taking into our stomachs poisonous drugs under a variety of names we do not understand. It is our duty to refuse all such prescriptions.”  {2SM 283.4} 

SOMETHING MANY PEOPLE SAY REGARDING SISTER WHITE:

• But didn’t Sister White get vaccinated and didn’t she tell a boy’s father it would have been okay to use Quinine when he contracted Malaria?
• We have to remember that the health message was progressive, and by the time she died in 1915, she said ALL DRUGS were to be left alone, if it comes from a pharmacy, we have been counseled to leave it alone. There were things Sister White ate, such as black pepper, meat, etc., that she stopped doing when she learned the health message.
• By the time she died, she said not one medication was to be used. So, we have to remember what she said in the end of her life, and not at the beginning, before she knew the whole message. She said if the natural remedies don’t work, take it to the Lord in prayer. 
• Remember, taking drug medication is a lack of faith. According to Hebrews 11:6, it is impossible to please the Lord without faith. But we will be responsible, telling the people to let their doctors know of changes they are making so the doctor will be responsible and have to eventually lower the dosages and then discontinue the medication altogether. 
• I know this is going to be hard for many people, but this is from the Christ to us, from the Pen of Inspiration. 
• Now don’t get me wrong, if it is a matter of life and death then by all means do what it takes to save a life. But I believe drugs are OVER used today and are the first choice instead of the last. We need to be using God’s remedies.
