Should We Eat Fruits and Veggies At The Same Meal?

When we bring all the quotes together on this subject, we see clearly that EGW tells us not to eat fruit with vegetables at the SAME meal, therefore, she says meals”, she's referring to breakfast meals in plurality.

There are Bible examples of using a word in plurality.

Example: The 7th day Sabbath comes once a week, but it is also referred to as “SABBATHS.”

SABBATHS = MORE THAN ONE WEEKLY SABBATH...52 WEEKLY SABBATHS IN A YEAR = 52 SABBATHS, NOT 52 SABBATH (see Leviticus 25:4,8 where an example is given when more than one Sabbath is mentioned, it's referred to in the “plural” as “sabbaths” and not the singular).

7 BREAKFASTS IN A WEEK = Meals, not meal.  Breakfast is a meal.  7 of them would be “meals” in the plural, not singular.

REMEMBER!!! WE CAN'T TAKE A QUOTE OR VERSE OUT OF CONTEXT.

The quote you are giving me is only a portion of a quote. YOU MUST LOOK AT THE WHOLE QUOTE:

If we would preserve the best health, we should avoid eating vegetables and fruit at the same meal. If the stomach is feeble, there will be distress, the brain will be confused, and unable to put forth mental effort. Have fruit at one meal and vegetables at the next.”  {HL 166.5}

So it's not just in case someone has a feeble digestive system, but to keep the body in the best health just in case we do have a digestive problem and don't even realize it.

ALSO, HERE'S ANOTHER EVEN MORE POWERFUL QUOTE:
Vegetables and fruit should not be eaten at the same meal. At one meal use bread and fruit, at the next bread and vegetables...”  {ST September 30, 1897, par. 6}

FRUIT & VEGETABLES NOT TO BE EATEN AT SAME MEAL:
It is not well to eat fruit and vegetables at the same mealIt is better to have the fruit at one meal, and the vegetables at another.”  {CD 112.3}

“…Fruit and vegetables taken at one meal produce acidity of the stomachthen impurity of the blood results, and the mind is not clear because the digestion is imperfect. You should understand that every organ of the body is to be treated with respect. In the matter of diet, you must reason from cause to effect.” (See Isaiah 1:1) {CD 112.6}

It is not well to eat fruit and vegetables at the same mealthe use of both will often cause distress, and inability to put forth mental effort. It is better to have the fruit at one meal, and the vegetables at another.” {CD 112.3}

IS IT OKAY TO MIX TOMATOES WITH VEGETABLES?
“…Have fruit at one meal and vegetables at the next…” {CD 394.3}
“…I have vermicelli-tomato soup one meal and greens the next…” {CD 324.1}

IS IT OKAY TO MIX TOMATOES WITH VEGETABLES?
“…Have fruit at one meal and vegetables at the next…” {CD 394.3}
“…I have vermicelli-tomato soup one meal and greens the next…” {CD 324.1}

EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE OF MIXING FRUIT & VEGGIES ARE:
·       Lemon juice may be used on vegetables
“…My thistle greens, nicely cooked, and seasoned with sterilized cream and lemon juice, are very
appetizing…” {CD 324.1}

·       Olives may be eaten at all meals “Olives may be so prepared as to be eaten with good results at every   meal…”(CD 349.4)

THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO RULES.

Example: Most people who died are asleep, but we know Enoch and Elijah were translated without seeing death, and Moses was resurrected after he died. And the people in the grave who rose with Christ at his resurrection.

When it comes to food, there are exceptions such as the olives may be eaten at every meal, and lemon juice may be eaten with greens.

However, a friend and I were talking, and we both agree that just because something is served at every meal doesn't mean it was okay to eat at every meal.  Unless she says you can eat with every meal, like she does the olives and the lemon juice.

What do I mean by this? There are many people who eat their vegetable meal for breakfast, and eat their fruit meal for their 2nd meal.

If they were visiting your home, and you were feeding them, and your family ate your fruit meal at your 2nd meal, the polite thing to do would be to serve the vegetables along with the fruit, although your family would not be eating the vegetables.

Same with the 2nd meal. Your guests would be eating the fruit at the 2nd meal, and you would be eating the vegetables at the 2nd meal, so once again, the vegetables and fruit would be served at every meal.

Everyone doesn't eat the same as others. Some people can't eat foods that are healthy. Just go by proper food combination.
