Abdominal / Internal Bleeding

Any type of internal hemorrhaging can be stopped by giving 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (90,000 heat units) in 1 cup of water every 1-2 hours.

Also, IMMEDIATELY, have the person drink charcoal in water AND put charcoal poultices over their stomach and lower stomach area.

HERE'S A QUOTE ABOUT A SIMILAR SITUATION
“A brother was taken sick with inflammation of the bowels and bloody dysentery. The man was not a careful health reformer, but indulged his appetite. We were just preparing to leave Texas, where we had been laboring for several months, and we had carriages prepared to take away this brother and his family, and several others who were suffering from malarial fever. My husband and I thought we would stand this expense rather than have the heads of several families die and leave their wives and children unprovided for.”  {2SM 299.1}

“Two or three were taken in a large spring wagon on spring mattresses. But this man who was suffering from inflammation of the bowelssent for me to come to him. My husband and I decided that it would not do to move him. Fears were entertained that mortification had set in. Then the thought came to me like a communication from the Lord to take pulverized charcoal, put water upon it, and give this water to the sick man to drink, putting bandages of the charcoal over the bowels and stomach. We were about one mile from the city of Denison, but the sick man's son went to a blacksmith's shop, secured the charcoal, and pulverized it, and then used it according to the directions given. The result was that in half an hour there was a change for the better. We had to go on our journey and leave the family behind, but what was our surprise the following day to see their wagon overtake us. The sick man was lying in a bed in the wagon. The blessing of God had worked with the simple means used.”  --Letter 182, 1899 (To a worker in an overseas field. See p. 287).  {2SM 299.2}

Why The Health Message Is Not Helpful To Many Of Our Own People

“...The foundation of that which keeps people in health is the medical missionary work of good cooking.”  {CD 263.1}

Often health reform is made health deform by the unpalatable preparation of foodThe lack of knowledge regarding healthful cookery must be remedied before health reform is a success.” {CD 263.2}

“During the last seven months we have been at home but about four weeks. In our travels we have sat at many different tables, from Iowa to Maine. Some whom we have visited live up to the best light they have. Others, who have the same opportunities of learning to live healthfully and well, have hardly taken the first steps in reform. They will tell you that they do not know how to cook in this new way. But they are without excuse in this matter of cooking; for in the work, HOW TO LIVE, are many excellent recipes, and this work is within the reach of all. I do not say that the system of cookery taught in that book is perfect. I may soon furnish a small work more to my mind in some respects. But HOW TO LIVE teaches cookery almost infinitely in advance of what the traveler will often meet, even among some Seventh-day Adventists.” (1T 680.2)

Grains used for porridge or “mush’ should have several hours’ cooking. But soft or liquid foods are less wholesome than dry foods, which require thorough mastication.” {CD 314.4}

“...Your stomach was not receiving that vigor that it should from your food. Taken in a liquid state, your food would not give healthful vigor or tone to the system. But when you change this habit, and eat more solids and less liquids, your stomach will feel disturbed. Notwithstanding this, you should not yield the point; you should educate your stomach to bear a more solid diet.”  {CD 105.1}

“...The dishes of soft foods, the soups and liquid foods...are not the best to give healthful muscles, sound digestive organs, or clear brains. O how slow we are to learn!" {FE 225.2}

“In the study of hygiene, students should be taught the nutrient value of different foods. The effect of a concentrated and stimulating diet, also of foods deficient in the elements of nutrition, should be made plainTea and coffee, fine-flour bread, pickles, COARSE VEGETABLES, candies, condiments, and pastries fail of supplying proper nutriment. Many a student has broken down as the result of using such foods. Many a puny child, incapable of vigorous effort of mind or body, is the victim of an impoverished diet. Grains, fruits, nuts, and vegetables, in proper combination, contain all the elements of nutrition; and when properly prepared, they constitute the diet that best promotes both physical and mental strength.” {Ed 204.3}

“There are men who make a specialty of treating the rectum, and some feel that they have been greatly benefited. But I have been instructed that this treatment, as well as many surgical operations, leaves with many a serious weakness.”  {LLM 178.2}

“The different parties of professed Advent believers have each a little truth, but God has given all these truths to His children who are being prepared for the day of God...If God has any new light to communicate, He will let His chosen and beloved understand it, without their going to have their minds enlightened by hearing those who are in darkness and error.” {EW 124.2}

WRITTEN BY WAGGONER IN 1894 – A Scotchman is launching a new form of vegetarianism in Paris. Its members eat and drink nothing but uncooked vegetable foods and natural liquids.” {June 21, 1894 EJW, PTUK 398.13}
“It was at the house of Brother A. Hilliard, at Otsego, Michigan, June 6, 1863, That the great subject of health Reform was opened before me in vision.” {CD 481.5}

“...The medical missionary work must be recognized. Those who go forth to engage in the work of the ministry must be intelligent upon the subject of health reform...”  (MM 238.3)

“...The foundation of that which keeps people in health is the medical missionary work of good cooking.”
 {CD 263.1}

“...the Lord has marked out a way in which His people are to carry forward a work of physical healing...”
{MM 14.3}

The world should be no criterion for us...” {CD 65.1}

“I told them that the preparation of their food was wrong, and that living principally on soups and coffee and bread was not health reform; that so much liquid taken into the stomach was not healthful, and that all who subsisted on such a diet placed a great tax upon the kidneys, and so much watery substance debilitated the stomach.” {CD 105.2}

“I was thoroughly convinced that many in the establishment were suffering with indigestion because of eating this kind of food. The digestive organs were enfeebled and the blood impoverished. Their breakfast consisted of coffee and bread with the addition of prune sauce. This was not healthful. The stomach, after rest and sleep, was better able to take care of a substantial meal than when wearied with work. Then the noon meal was generally soup, sometimes meat. The stomach is small, but the appetite, unsatisfied, partakes largely of this liquid food; so it is burdened.” (CD 105.3)

“...We asked for breakfast at six, but were told that it would be impossible to furnish anything so early. By previous experience we had learned that usually at this hour the fires were not built, nor were the doors unlocked. So, to carry out our plan, we purchased bread, fruit, and milk in the evening, and asked for dishes to be brought to our rooms that we might prepare our own breakfast. The porter was [told] to get up early and have the door unlocked at half past six; but this he failed to do until wakened by us in the morning..." {HS 167.1}

“...Instead of your mother getting up and getting breakfast in the morning while you lie in bed, you should be the one to say, 'Mother, don't you get up in the morning. We will take hold of these burdens and perform these duties.' You should let those whose hairs are growing gray take their rest in the morning.” {CG 125.3}

“Brought a basket of FRUIT—of TOMATOES, peaches, and apples. They were very nice. We ate the fruit with our bread taken from home.” {AY 77.3}

“... I have vermicelli-tomato soup one meal and greens the next. I have begun again to eat potato meal. My food all tastes good. I am like a fever patient who has been half-starved, and I am in danger of overeating.” {CD 324.1}

Do not have too great a variety at a meal; three or four dishes are a plenty...” {CD 109.5}

“...The grains, with fruits, nuts, and vegetables, contain all the nutritive properties necessary to make good blood.”  {CG 384.1}

4 FOOD GROUPS - Fruit, Vegetables, Nuts, Grains

“...Encourage the eating of fruit and vegetables and bread.”  {CD 314.5}
“...Have fruit at one meal and vegetables at the next…”  {CD 394.3}

“...If we plan wisely, that which is most conducive to health can be secured in almost every land. The various preparations of rice, wheat, corn, and oats are sent abroad everywhere, also beans, peas, and lentils. These, with native or imported fruits, and the variety of vegetables that grow in each locality, give an opportunity to select a dietary that is complete without the use of flesh meats....” {CD 94.4}

FROM ELLA KELLOGG'S BOOK 'Science in the Kitchen' Vegetables should be cooked until they are perfectly tender but not overdone. Many cooks spoil their vegetables by cooking them too long, while quite as many more serve them in an underdone state to preserve their form. Either plan makes them less palatable, and likely to be indigestible.

Often health reform is made health deform by the unpalatable preparation of food. The lack of knowledge regarding healthful cookery must be remedied before health reform is a success.” {CD 263.2}

“...Vegetables prepared with only water, and everything else in like manner. This kind of cookery is health deform, and there are some minds so constituted that they will accept anything that bears the features of rigorous diet or reform of any kind.” {CD 212.1}

“...Vegetables should be made palatable with a little milk or cream, or something equivalent.” {CD 207.3}
     (See ‘Science in the Kitchen’ pg. 394.4 re: Coconut Milk in the place of milk)

“During the last seven months we have been at home but about four weeks. In our travels we have sat at many different tables, from Iowa to Maine. “...At least five or six hours should intervene between the meals, and most persons who give the plan a trial will find that two meals a day are better than three.”  394 {CCh 224.2}

“The practice of eating but two meals a day is generally found a benefit to health; yet under some circumstances persons may require a third meal. This should, however, if taken at all, be very light, and of food most easily digested.” 395 {CCh 224.3}

Why Not Drugs?

Jeremiah 46:11 – “Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egyptin vain shalt tho use many medicines; for thou shalt not be cured.”

WE ALL NEED TO SPEAK THE SAME THINGS REGARDING THE USE OF DRUG MEDICATION:

“…Jesus designed that the faith of His people should be one. If one goes forth preaching one thing, and another differing with him preaches something else, how can those who believe through their word be one? There will be difference of sentiments.”  {1T 326.2}

Men may get up scheme after scheme, and the enemy will seek to seduce souls from the truthbut all who believe that the Lord has spoken through Sister White, and has given her a message, will be safe from the many delusions that will coming in these last days.”  --Letter 50, 1906 {3SM 83.5}

“…If the harmonious working of the system has become unbalanced by overwork, overeating, or other irregularitiesdo not endeavor to adjust the difficulties by adding a burden of poisonous medicines.” {MH 235.1} 1905

WHY NOT DRUGS?
A practice that is laying the foundation of a vast amount of disease and of even more serious evils is the free use of poisonous drugs. When attacked by disease, many will not take the trouble to search out the cause of their illnessTheir chief anxiety is to rid themselves of pain and inconvenienceSo they resort to patent nostrums, of whose real properties they know little, or they apply to a physician for some remedy to counteract the result of their misdoing, but with no thought of making a change in their unhealthful habitsIf immediate benefit is not realized, another medicine is tried, and then another. Thus the evil continues.” {MH 126.2}1905

By the use of poisonous drugs, many bring upon themselves LIFELONG ILLNESS, and MANY LIVES ARE LOST that might be saved by the use of natural methods of healing. The poisons contained in many so-called remedies create habits and appetites that mean ruin to both soul and bodyMany of the popular nostrums called patent medicines, and even some of the drugs dispensed by physicians, act a part in laying the foundation of the liquor habit, the opium habit, the morphine habit that ARE SO TERRIBLE A CURSE TO SOCIETY.” {MH 126.4} 1905

The only hope of better things is in the education of the people in right principles...teach the people that restorative power is NOT IN DRUGS, but in nature...” (MH 127.1) 1905

THE LORD HAS GIVEN SOME SIMPLE HERBS of the field that at times are beneficialand if every family were educated in how to use these herbs in case of sickness, much suffering might be prevented, and no doctor need be called. These old-fashioned, simple herbs, used intelligently, would have recovered many sick who have died under drug medication.” {2SM 294.1} 1897

Nature’s simple remedies will aid in recovery without leaving the deadly after effects so often felt by those who use poisonous drugs. They destroy the power of the patient to help himself...” {2SM 281.3} 1908

 “Your question is, . . . IN URGENT CASES, should we call in a worldly physician, because the sanitarium doctors are all so busy that they have no time to devote to outside practice?” ...If the physicians are so busy that they cannot treat the sick outside of the institution, would it not be wiser for all to educate themselves in the use of simple remedies, than to venture to use drugs that are given a long name to hide their real qualities...” (2SM 289.4) 1897

It would have been better if, from the first, all drugs had been kept out of our sanitariums, and use had been made of such simple remedies as are found in pure water, pure air, sunlight, and some of the simple herbs growing in the fieldThese would be just as efficacious as the drugs used…and they would leave no injurious effects in the system.”  {2SM 291.2} 1903

God has caused to grow out of the ground, herbs, for the use of manand if we understand the nature of those roots and herbs, and MAKE A RIGHT USE OF THEM, there would not be a necessity of running for the doctor so frequently, and people would be in much better health than they are today...” {2SM 297.9} 1890

“...Giving the simple treatments WITHOUT DRUGS.” (PC 31.5)  1898

MEDICINE deranges nature’s fine machinery, and breaks down the constitutionIT KILLS, BUT NEVER CURES.” {HL 244.6}

In regard to the book on Christian temperance, that portion that was expressed in reference to drug medication as though it was recommended by me is not according to the light that I have been given to present to the peopleI must, if I made this statement, have done so in expressing the idea of working away from the use of all drugs concocted at the apothecary. We have no use for them. We should not vindicate the use of drug medication.” (20MR 36.2)  1897

WHAT ELSE IS CONSIDERED TO BE DRUG POISONS?
“From our study of the testimonies and the little work, how to live, we can see that the Lord is strongly opposed to the use of drugs in our medical work. . . .several of the students are in doubt as to the meaning of the word 'drug' as mentioned in How To Live. Does it refer only to the stronger medicines as mercury, strychnine, arsenic, and such poisons, the things we medical students call 'drugs,' or does it also include the simpler remedies, as potassium, iodine, squills, etc.? We know that our success will be proportionate to our adherence to God's methodsFor this reason I have asked the above question.”  {2SM 278.3} 1893

HER RESPONSE:
Your questions, I will say, are answered largely, if not definitely, in How to Live. Drug poisons mean the articles which you have mentionedThe simpler remedies are less harmful in proportion to their simplicity; but in very many cases these are used when not at all necessaryThere are simple herbs and roots that every family may use for themselves and need not call a physician any sooner than they would call a lawyerI do not think that I can give you any definite line of medicines compounded and dealt out by doctors, that are perfectly harmless. And yet it would not be wisdom to engage in controversy over this subject.”  {2SM 279.1} 1893

Every poisonous preparation in the vegetable and mineral kingdoms, taken into the systemwill leave its wretched influence, affecting the liver and lungs, and deranging the system generally.” {HL 245.1}

Not a poisonous drug should be used.  When you have a case that does not respond to the use of simple remedies, take it to the Lord in prayer...” (PC 43.1)

“…That which we lack in faith we make up by the use of drugsLet us give up the drugs believing that Jesus does not desire us to be sick...”  (19MR 51.2)
WHAT IF SOMEONE IS ALREADY ON DRUG MEDICATION?
Drug medication should be worked away from as fast as possible, until entirely discarded.” (CD 406.4) 1884

***Never tell a person to get off of their medication, (unless working at a Lifestyle Center).  Teach them the laws of health and then their levels will drop, causing the Doctor's to have to decrease the dosage and eventually discontinue the medication altogether.

WHY NOT DRUGS?
When drugs are introduced into the system, for a time they may seem to have a beneficial effect.
A change may take place, but the disease is not curedIt will manifest itself in some other formIn nature’s efforts to expel the drug from the system, intense suffering is sometimes caused the patient, and the disease, which the drug was given to cure, may disappear, but only to re-appear in a new form, such as skin diseases, ulcers, painful diseased joints, and sometimes in a more dangerous and deadly form. The liver, heart and brain are frequently affected by drugs, and often all these organs are burdened with disease, and the unfortunate subjects, if they live, are invalids for life, wearily dragging out a miserable existenceOh, how much that poisonous drug cost! If it did not cost the life, it cost quite too much...” (4aSG 135.1) 1899

“…A doctordeals out poisonous medicinesif it was not diseased in reality before, it is after this process. It suffers now from drug-disease, the most stubborn and incurable of all diseases. If it recovers, it must bear about more or less in its system the effects of that poisonous drug, and is liable to spasms, heart disease, dropsy (swelling) on the brain, or consumption (TB)...” {2SM 468.1} 1866

A physician is sent for, who prescribes some drug which gives present relief, but which does not cure the disease. It may change the form of diseasebut the real evil is increased tenfold.” (4aSG 133.2) (See Revelation 14:6-7; and Proverbs 8:13)

More deaths have been caused by drug-taking than from all other causes combined…” {2SM 450.2} 1899

“…All the medicine they take only make their recovery more hopeless…”  (4aSG 139.3)

“…Multitudes of physicians, and multitudes of drugs, have cursed the inhabitants of the earth, and have carried thousands and tens of thousands to untimely graves.” (Remember that Opium/Morphine have killed millions) {2SM 450.2}

There are many ways of practicing the healing art, but there is only ONE way that heaven approvesGod’s remedies are the simple agencies of nature that will not tax or debilitate the system.”   (5T 443.1) 1897

EDUCATE AWAY FROM DRUGS!!!

“...Lectures should be given not on how to use drugs, not to lead minds and educate them in” the methods of drug usingbut to teach the people the better way—to live healthfully and do without drugs. The words were repeated, EDUCATE! EDUCATE! EDUCATE!” {20MR 373.3}   1888

The question of health reform is not agitated as it must and will beA simple diet, and the entire absence of drugs, leaving nature free to recuperate the wasted energies of the bodywould make our sanitariums far more effectual in restoring the sick to health.” {CD 304.1} 1896

Thousands who are afflicted might recover their health ifinstead of depending upon the drugstore for their lifethey would discard all drugs and live simply…” {MM 229.4} 1903

“…These mixtures place a double taxation upon nature, and in the effort to throw off the poisons they contain, thousands of persons lose their livesWe must leave drugs entirely alone, for in using them, we introduce an enemy into the system…we do not want this practiceas in Battle Creek, to steal in our midst as a thief.”  {16MR 289.2} 1899

PROPER REGULATION OF THEIR DIET, abstinence from tea, coffee, and all spices and flesh meats, gaining an intelligent knowledge of temperance, would be medicine above all drugs.”  {20MR 373.2} 1888

Q: WHY ARE DRUGS SO HARMFUL TO SOME PEOPLE AND NOT TO OTHERS?

A: This drug does not have the same effect upon allSome who have powerful constitutions can recover from abuses who which they subject the systemWhile others, whose hold of life is not as strong, who possess enfeebled constitutions, have never recovered from receiving into the system even one dose, and many die from no other cause than the effects of one portion of the poisonIts effects are always tending to death…” {2SM 449.1} 1899

Drug takers are never wellThey are always taking cold, which causes extreme suffering...” {HL 209.5}   1899

From beginning to end, the crime of tobacco using, of opium and drug medication, has its origin in perverted knowledgethis great knowledge, supposed by men to be so wonderful, God did not mean that man should haveThey are using the poisonous productions that Satan himself has planted…men are dealing in liquors and narcotics that are destroying the human family.”  {Te 75.1}  1898

WHAT ABOUT NEW MEDICATIONS ON THE MARKET?

The endless variety of medicines in the market, the numerous advertisements of new drugs and mixtures all of which claim to do wonderful cures, kill hundreds where they benefit one...” (HL 245.1) 1899

SHOULD GOD’S PEOPLE ADMINISTER DRUG MEDICATION TO THE SICK?
Some will have medicine at all events. Then let them take these hurtful mixtures and the various deadly poisons upon their own responsibilityGod’s servants should not administer medicines which they know will leave behind injurious effects upon the system, even if they do relieve present suffering…” (HL 245.1) 1864

BUT DIDN’T SISTER WHITE SUPPORT THE USE OF DRUG MEDICATION?
In regard to the book on Christian temperance, that portion that was expressed in reference to drug medication as though it was recommended by me is not according to the light that I have been given to present to the people. I must, if I made this statement, have done so in expressing the idea of working away from the use of all drugs concocted at the apothecary. We have no use for themWe should not vindicate the use of drug medication…” {20MR 36.2} 1897

“…Dispense with medicines of every description…” (4aSG 145.3) 1864

DRUG TAKING = A LACK OF FAITH:
“…Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My nameHe will give it you.” He promises to come to us as a Comforter to bless usWhy do we not believe these promisesThat which we lack in faith we make up by the use of drugs. Let us give up the drugs, believing that Jesus does not desire us to be sickand that if we live according to the principles of health reform, he will keep us well.”  {19MR 51.2} 1902

WE CAN WITH SAFETY DISCARD ALL DRUGS:
Our Saviour has supplied in the natural world remedies for the ills of man…we can with safety discard the concoctions which man has used in the past.” {2SM 289.1}

WHAT ABOUT THE SCHOOLS OF MEDICINE?

Not one of the schools of medicine is highly lauded in the world is approved in the courts abovenor do they bear heavenly superscription and endorsement…” {PH066 40.3} 1890

I have been pained when many students have been encouraged to go where they would receive an education in the use of drugs…” {MM 228.4}

MORE QUOTES:

1. Drugs never cure diseasethey only change its form and locationwhen drugs are introduced into the system, for a time they seem to have a beneficial effect A change may take place, BUT THE DISEASE IS NOT CURED.  It will manifest itself in some other form. . . . The disease which the drug was given to cure may disappear, but only to reappear in a new form, such as skin diseases, ulcers, painful, diseased joints, and sometimes in a more dangerous and deadly form…” {HL 243.3} 1899

Every additional drug given to the patientwill complicate the case, and make the patient’s recovery more hopelessan evil, simple in the beginning, which nature aroused herself to overcome, and which she would have done if left to herself, aided by the common blessings of heaven, has been made tenfold worse by introducing drug poisons into the system, which cause of themselves a destructive disease…” {HL 243.4} 1899

2. There is no need whatever to exalt the method whereby drugs are administeredI know whereof I speak.” {PH144 29.1}

3. The use of drugs is not in accordance with God’s plan. Physicians should understand how to treat the sick through the use of nature's remedies. Pure air, pure water, healthful exercise, should be employed in the treatment of the sick.”  {16MR 57.1}   1892

4. DRUG MEDICATIONS ARE TO BE DISCARDED. On this point the conscience of the physician must ever be kept tender and true and cleanThe inclination to use poisonous drugsneeds to be guarded against…”  {MM 227.5}

5. “…All the medicine they take only make their recovery more hopeless…”  (4aSG 139.3)

6. As to DRUGS being used in our institutions, IT IS CONTRARY TO THE LIGHT which the Lord has been PLEASE TO GIVEthis is God’s methodThe herbs that grow for the benefit of man and the little handful of herbs kept and steeped and used for sudden ailments, have served tenfold, yes, one hundred fold better purposes, than all the drugs hidden under mysterious names and dealt out to the sick.” {PH144 12.1-12.2}

A WORD OF CAUTION:
“…You must not always let the patients know that you discard drugs entirely, until they become intelligent on the subject. You often place yourself in positions where you hurt your influence and do no one any good, by expressing all your convictions. Thus you cut yourself away from the peopleYou should modify your strong prejudices.” {2SM 287.2}   1899

He says, “I want to make the case that medications are the leading cause of death, at least in North America.” More deaths have been caused by drug-taking than from all other causes combined…” (2SM 450.2)

His List of the 10 Most Dangerous Medications:

POWERFUL QUOTE WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER:
We are not excusable if through ignorance we destroy God's building by taking into our stomachs poisonous drugs under a variety of names we do not understandIt is our duty to refuse all such prescriptions.”  {2SM 283.4}

SOMETHING MANY PEOPLE SAY REGARDING SISTER WHITE:
  • But didn’t Sister White get vaccinated and didn’t she tell a boy’s father it would have been okay to use Quinine when he contracted Malaria?
  • We have to remember that the health message was progressive, and by the time she died in 1915, she said ALL DRUGS were to be left alone, if it comes from a pharmacy, we have been counseled to leave it alone. There were things Sister White ate, such as black pepper, meat, etc., that she stopped doing when she learned the health message.
  • By the time she died, she said not one medication was to be used. So, we have to remember what she said in the end of her life, and not at the beginning, before she knew the whole message. She said if the natural remedies don’t work, take it to the Lord in prayer
  • Remember, taking drug medication is a lack of faith. According to Hebrews 11:6, it is impossible to please the Lord without faith. But we will be responsible, telling the people to let their doctors know of changes they are making so the doctor will be responsible and have to eventually lower the dosages and then discontinue the medication altogether
  • I know this is going to be hard for many people, but this is from the Christ to us, from the Pen of Inspiration
  • Now don’t get me wrong, if it is a matter of life and death then by all means do what it takes to save a life. But I believe drugs are OVER used today and are the first choice instead of the last. We need to be using God’s remedies.
